Induction Heating a Block of Nickel Alloy

A client contacted THE LAB at Ambrell because they needed to heat a block of Haynes nickel alloy from 600 ºF (316 ºC) to 1600 ºF (871 ºC) in order to collect data on the crack growth rate for an aerospace application. THE LAB determined that an Ambrell EASYHEAT® 2.4 kW, 150-400 kHz induction heating power supply with a single position four-turn helical coil would meet the requirements of this aerospace testing application.

Heating Graphite Discs for an Aerospace Client

Brazing a Steel Nozzle Assembly for an Aerospace Client

An aerospace client approached THE LAB at Ambrell with a brazing application. They tried using an oven and a torch for brazing their steel nozzle assembly, but were seeing inconsistent results. This was a low volume application, so heating time wasn't a concern. However, the location of the desired braze joint was shielded from the induction field by the lip of the nozzle, which complicated the process.
