THE LAB at Ambrell tested an induction cap sealing application for a company that manufactures shampoo containers. It involved heating aluminum foil inside a plastic shampoo cap for sealing. THE LAB determined that an Ambrell EASYHEATTM 7.5 kW, 150-400 kHz induction heating power supply with a three-turn, two position helical coil would meet the requirements of the client.

Induction Cap Sealing a Lotion Container

THE LAB at Ambrell tested an induction cap sealing application for a client that manufactures lotion. It involved heating an aluminum in-cap laminate to a temperature of 350 ºF (177 ºC) to seal the laminate to the container. THE LAB determined that an EASYHEATTM 1.2 kW, 150-400 kHz induction heating power supply with a single turn helical coil of rectangular tube would meet the requirements of the client.

Sealing Aluminum Foil Caps to Plastic Bottles

THE LAB at Ambrell tested a cap sealing application for a client. It involved sealing a 1.5” (38.1 mm) diameter cap with foil to a plastic bottle within one second. The target temperature for this cap sealing application was 250-300 ºF (121-149 ºC). THE LAB determined that an EASYHEATTM 2 kW, 150-400 kHz induction heating power supply with a single turn helical coil of rectangular tube would meet the requirements of the client.

Application Video: Cap Sealing Large Bottles with Induction Heating

In the latest application video from THE LAB at Ambrell, a cap sealing application is tested. Cap sealing with induction is a non-contact heating method that welds the foil laminate to the lip of the container, commonly plastic or glass. In this case, the client had been using a cap sealing device that wasn't delivering enough power for this large plastic container, so the heating wasn't fast enough to meet their throughput requirements. Consequently, they turned to THE LAB for a proper induction solution.
