Note: Curing adhesive on a steel valve used for fracking

LSR# 37428

Objective:

Curing adhesive on a steel valve seat by induction heating to 225 - 245 °F

End Product:

steel valve component used in fracking

Equipment:

Ambrell EASYHEAT 10.0 kW induction heating system, equipped with a remote work head containing two 0.3 μF capacitors.

Materials:

steel valve seat components

Temperature:

225 - 245 °F (115 - 118 °C)

Frequency:

170 kHz

Testing:

A custom-designed multi-turn helical coil, four position design, was built to generate the required heating for the application. Initial tests were conducted to optimize the power delivered to the part. Once a satisfactory heat pattern was achieved in the time frame allowed, samples were run at multiple different settings.

Benefits:

  • Precise, accurate control of heat placement

  • Minimized coating defects

  • Repeatable results
