Note: Shrink fit a copper ring into an aluminum casting
LSR# 37413
Objective:
To heat the customer-supplied aluminum die casting to 350 °F (177 °C) to facilitate the insertion of a sintered copper-iron ring
End Product:
aluminum die casting
Equipment:
Ambrell EKOHEAT 30 kW, 50-150 kHz induction heating system, equipped with a remote heat station containing (6) 2.0 μF capacitors for a total capacitance of 3.0 uF
Materials:
Cast aluminum housing
sintered copper-iron ring
Temperature:
350 °F (177 °C)
Frequency:
72 kHz
Testing:
The customer supplied parts were used to design the induction heating coils and to deliver energy efficiently using the Ambrell EKOHEAT power supply. Initial tests were conducted to optimize the power delivered to the part and to understand the heating patterns achieved.
Benefits:
Induction heating offers this application:
-
Rapid part heating
-
Even heat distribution
-
Flexibility for parts of differing geometries
-
Individual, series part heating, suitable for automation
-
A clean source of heat
