Note: Solder a copper fuse assembly to 350-400°F for a preheat application
Objective:
To preheat the client's copper fuse assembly to 350-400 °F for a soldering application.
End Product:
copper fuse assembly
Equipment:
Ambrell EKOHEAT 35 kW induction heating system, equipped with a remote heat station containing four 10.0 μF capacitors in series-parallel for a total of 10.0 μF
Materials:
Copper fuse assembly
Temperature:
350-400 °F (177-204 °C)
Frequency:
18 kHz
Testing:
Laboratory testing has confirmed the feasibility of the heating process using the Ambrell induction heating system. Some process development may still be needed at the customer site once the induction system is delivered to account for the unique fixture/ handling techniques used.
Initial tests were conducted to optimize the power delivered to the parts. Once a satisfactory heating performance was achieved, the housing was heated in 2-3minutes to achieve the solder reflow.
Benefits:
-
Speed: The client was able to braze the assembly within their targeted time frame.
-
Safety & Efficiency: There is no open flame with induction heating, and it also introduces less heat into the work environment. It is also more efficient than most alternative heating methods such as torch heating.
-
Repeatability: The client can expect the same result in the same amount of time every single time with induction heating.
-
Lab Expertise: THE LAB at Ambrell designed a solution that met the client’s goals.
