Note: Solder a vent tube assembly
LSR# 30370
Objective:
To heat both ends of customer's copper float assembly
End Product:
Float Assembly
Equipment:
Ambrell EASYHEAT 6 kW induction heating system, equipped with a remote work head containing two 1.5 μF capacitors.
Materials:
Customer's parts, solder & flux
Temperature:
500 °F (270 °C)
Frequency:
280 kHz
Testing:
A custom-designed multi turn helical coil was built to generate the required heating for the application. Initial tests were conducted to optimize the power delivered to the part. Once a satisfactory heat pattern was achieved in the time frame allowed, samples were run at multiple different settings.
Heat time of 24 seconds was used for the sample testing at Ambrell.
Laboratory testing has confirmed the feasibility of the heating process for heating the customer samples using the Ambrell system. Some process development may still be needed at the customer site once the induction system is delivered to account for the unique fixture/ handling techniques used
Benefits:
Compared to using a manual soldering iron, induction heating precisely applies heat to for higher quality solder joints
This is ideal for integrating with an automated system. By stick- feeding the solder more aesthetically pleasing parts are produced.
