Note: Preheating copper electric transmission assemblies
Objective:
Preheating customer-supplied copper electric transmission assemblies to 300 °F
End Product:
electric transmission products
Equipment:
Ambrell EKOHEAT 125 kW, 5-15 kHz induction heating system, equipped with a remote heat station containing eight 20 μF capacitors for a total of 160 μF
Materials:
Customer supplied copper parts
Temperature:
300 °F
Frequency:
11 kHz
Testing:
A specially designed helical was used to provide the heat to the multiple samples provided. Initial tests were conducted to optimize the power delivered to the part and to understand the heating patterns achieved.
After several changes and iterations on the coil setup the following data is collected from the testing.
Final test data:
Sample heated to 300 °F
Voltage was constant at 400-500 Vrms
Frequency 11 kHz (automatically tuned)
Benefits:
The Ambrell coil design allows for the parts to be placed in the heating zone and removed easily.
