About:
A manufacturer of transmission assemblies needed to preheat copper assemblies and contacted Ambrell to confirm the viability of their application. Their interest in induction heating was due to its speed, repeatability, and efficiency. They proceeded to send assemblies to THE LAB at Ambrell for feasibility testing.
More Heating Application Notes
A specially designed helical coil was used to provide heat to the multiple samples provided. Initial tests were conducted to optimize the power delivered to the part and to understand the heating patterns achieved. The target temperature was 300° F (149° C) for the application and the frequency was 11 kHz.
THE LAB at Ambrell confirmed the viability of their application using an Ambrell EKOHEAT 125 kW/5-15 kHz induction heating system. The client will realize several benefits including speed, repeatability, and energy efficiency. Additionally, because the workhead can be placed away from the power supply, there are floor space benefits too.
THE LAB at Ambrell has considerable experience with preheating applications, which enabled them to deliver a solution that met the client's requirements. To learn more about free application testing, visit our page about THE LAB to get the process started.
