In this application video from THE LAB at Ambrell, a steel tool is heated to 1400 °F (760 °C) for an annealing application. An Ambrell EKOHEAT® induction heating power supply is used. The red sight on the part is from a pyrometer, the temperature displays on the controller to the left, and there is temperature indicating paint down the part.

An organization from the automotive industry had been using torch heating for their steel rod assembly preheating process. However, due to process improvements thanks to new automation in their facility, torch heating became too slow. This resulted in a backlog that kept them from maximizing throughput. Bonding involves connecting metal or materials containing metal to materials such as plastic, rubber or thermoplastic materials without using a bonding adhesive. Bonding with induction entails accelerating the polymerization of an adhesive by heating the metal parts to be joined. The required temperature range is generally from 150 ºC to 220 °C. Accurate heat control is critical to successfully bonding with induction heating.
